Am V’Ometz: Building Jewish Confidence Conference
Presented by Machon ...Siach at SAR High School and American Jewish Committee (AJC)
The Am V’Ometz: Building Jewish Confidence conference was a landmark event designed to empower our students and reinforce their confidence in their Jewish identity through education, skill-building, and meaningful dialogue. The conference brought together experts, from AJC's Center for Education Advocacy, community leaders, and SAR alumni activists to guide students on this important journey.
Students had the opportunity to engage in a series of sessions and hands-on workshops, diving deep into Jewish history and identity while developing essential advocacy skills like public speaking, editorial writing, and alliance-building.
A major highlight was the keynote conversation with Rabbi Tully Harcsztark, Founding Principal of SAR High School and Dean of Machon Siach, and American Jewish Committee (AJC) CEO, Ted Deutch. Together, they explored the current challenges and opportunities facing Jewish students today. Watch the keynote conversation here: https://youtu.be/3WbdY8txJAI
In a special effort to foster connections beyond SAR, Jewish students from Ethical Culture Fieldston School, Riverdale Country Day, and Horace Mann joined our 11th and 12th grade student ambassadors. The shared lunch and interactive programming helped unite students and inspire Jewish pride.
Rabbi Tully Harcsztark shared, "This conference was a crucial opportunity for our students to strengthen their Jewish identity and learn how to actively engage in advocacy. Partnering with AJC allowed us to provide them with the tools and confidence to proudly represent and support the Jewish community."

8th Grade Boys Basketball vs. JEM Lions
What an incredible afternoon of connection—both on and off the ...basketball court!
Today, we had the honor of welcoming the JEM Lions Israeli basketball team—high school players from Jerusalem, Efrat, and Modiin—to SAR.
Before hitting the court, the JEM players, some with parents still serving, led us in Tehillim on the steps. Their voices united with ours in tefila for the safety of our chayalim and the return of our hostages.
Then, our 8th-grade boys’ team faced off against the JEM players in an exciting game!
The energy was electric, but what truly stood out was the deep sense of achdut.
Whether through tefilah or basketball, we are reminded that we stand together as one—even if they did beat us 47-32!

From SAR High School to Yeshivat Hakotel to MIT, Zack Duitz's journey has always been about learning and leadership. But after October 7th, his role on campus took on a whole new meaning.
As a student of AI and Decision Making at MIT, Zack (HS '19) found himself at the frontlines of advocacy—organizing counter-protests, meeting with administrators, and even creating an AI-powered tool to combat anti-Israel misinformation online.
Through resilience and action, Zack has been shifting the conversation, proving that innovation can be a powerful tool in the fight against misinformation and anti-Semitism.
