Grateful Hearts and Busy Hands: Highlights from SAR Academy’s 2nd Grade Thanksgiving Palooza
Second graders at SAR Academy were excited to celebrate the second grade annual Thanksgiving Palooza! Students rotated through four engaging stations, each focusing on a Thanksgiving theme.
At one station, students listened to a version of the popular folk tale, Stone Soup, in which the people of a small town each contribute an ingredient to collectively create a delicious community soup.
At another station, students actually cooked their very own soup using the ingredients that each student had brought in from home.
At the writing station, students wrote Thank You letters to people at SAR that help make our community so amazing including those who work in maintenance, the kitchen, and security. The letters were so kind, demonstrating hakarat hatov to those who help us each day!
At the baking station, second graders made delicious pumpkin bars with chocolate chips. Students were surprised to find out how much math was involved in baking and were helpful in figuring out problems such as how many half teaspoons to use when we need two teaspoons.
The second graders loved working in the different classrooms and having the opportunity to work with friends from other classes. What a fun and delicious way to give thanks!
