Adult Ulpan Celebration

This year SAR Academy faculty members Noa Wolf, Hila Harari, Inbar Vered and Irit Keller facilitated our Adult Ulpan, which grows our Hebrew learning community. This wonderful and cost-free program was made possible by the Dayah Grant Program, allowing our faculty and staff to work on developing new educational initiatives and ideas in a meaningful and concrete way. The Ulpan was created in the Spring of 2020, during the height of Covid, and has grown tremendously over the past four years.

Each week, Noa, Hila, Inbar, and Irit meet with community members looking to develop their Hebrew language skills. Bringing together this cohort of parents, grandparents and faculty allows the SAR community to practice speaking in Ivrit in a comfortable, casual environment. Participants watch and discuss Israeli TV shows and Hebrew current event articles, learn Hebrew songs, and build confidence in the ability to speak and communicate in the Hebrew language. The students eagerly anticipate the weekly 8:00pm Wednesday night Zoom to practice their skills. The Ulpan has been met with great success; this year over 50 new and returning community members have joined, and the program has expanded into three levels: advanced, intermediate, and beginner. To celebrate the completion of the 2022-23 Adult Ulpan program, participants gathered in person at SAR Academy to meet their classmates, share brachot, enjoy good food and Hebrew conversation!
