Mission to Israel with Rep. Ritchie Torres

Rabbi Krauss joined Congressman Ritchie Torres and other Bronx leaders for a two-day solidarity mission to Israel sponsored by UJA Federation of New York. It was Congressman Torres’s first visit since October 7th, with the hope of fostering comfort, connections, and understanding of the ongoing challenges while reinforcing the unbreakable bond between the U.S. and Israel.

The group had the opportunity to meet Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, visit families of hostages, and tour the Gaza Envelope, where they heard firsthand accounts from survivors of the Nova Festival tragedy. At Kibbutz Nir Oz and the Nova Festival site, they listened to stories of bravery and resilience, deeply moved by the courage and determination of these everyday heroes.

Before returning to the U.S., Rabbi Krauss had the special opportunity to stand at the Kotel alongside Bronx community leaders, SAR principal Rabbi Yonah Fuld, and several alumni who took time from their Torah learning to join Congressman Torres as he paid tribute to the late Senator Joseph I. Lieberman z”l. Reflecting on the Senator’s enduring contributions to public life and unwavering moral clarity, Congressman Torres emphasized the importance of upholding the values he championed, underscoring unity and mutual respect in pursuit of the common good. We thank Congressman Torres for following in his ways and for his steadfast commitment to Israel and our community.
