Chol Hamoed Sukkot at SAR Academy

SAR Academy celebrated Sukkot together, upholding its longstanding tradition of remaining open on Chol Hamoed Sukkot. Students immersed themselves in the holiday they studied through joyful activities and enriching excursions. Exciting activities included sukkah hops, jumping on inflatables, a bowling trip, and programming in preparation for Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah. Highlights included a visit from the Parrot Rebbe, “minute-to-win-it” games, and hands-on ecological workshops by Teva (Adamah) educators focused on recycling, composting, upcycled art, bread baking, apple cider pressing, candle making, and crafting wooden mezuzot.

Some students visited Congressman Ritchie Torres’s office and the 50th Precinct to present their “Wings of Hope” installation—a tribute to lives lost on October 7. Middle school students enjoyed visits to SkyZone, the Bronx Zoo, Van Cortlandt Park, a ropes course, a Central Park bike tour, a meaningful day of Chesed and community service, and a Simchat Beit HaShoeva celebration. On Tuesday of Chol Hamoed, the entire school came together on the field for a moving musical Hallel, Hoshanot, and tefilot for Israel.
