SAR Varsity Girls Basketball Championship VS Frisch
🏒 🥅 Big shoutout to these 6th graders, 9 of the 14 players on their NY ...Ice Cats team, who are absolutely dominating the ice! ❄️
The NY Ice Cats is a tri-state league that gives Shabbat-observant kids the opportunity to play competitive ice hockey while staying true to their values.
Rabbi Krauss had the chance to congratulate these players who recently won a Boston tournament (the same day Team USA won Olympic gold!) and also took home the Hudson Valley Hockey League championship. ⛸️
On the ice, they’re showing teamwork and grit. Off the ice, they’re building friendships, connecting with students from other day schools, and demonstrating real dedication.
We’re so proud to see them thriving in a program that brings together skill, values, and community.
👏 Way to go!

Adar Madness Recap
💪🏽 🇮🇱 On Purim morning, our students had the incredible privilege ...of welcoming Major @sagidovev, Founder & CEO of @houseof.heroes, and @omri_rozenblit, an IDF officer who lost his leg in combat but whose strength and determination are so inspiring he’s now starring on The Amazing Race!
House of Heroes helps wounded soldiers rebuild body and spirit through martial arts, therapy, and community support. Our students watched Sagi and Omri demonstrate Krav Maga, and even got to train alongside them, learning firsthand about courage, perseverance, and teamwork.
Purim reminds us that unity and strength sustain a people, and seeing these values in action, especially at a time like this, was an unforgettable experience for our students...a vivid reminder of our connection to all of Am Yisrael.

Joining community leaders and clergy, Megan H., Jonah S., and Ariel B. traveled... to City Hall to support City Council Speaker Julie Menin, Councilman Eric Dinowitz, and the Committee to Combat Hate at a crucial hearing on protecting schools and houses of worship from harassment and intimidation. The bills presented are part of Speaker Menin’s Five-Point Plan to Combat Antisemitism and serve as a strategic response to the troubling protests that have taken place outside of shuls since October 7. Written by Councilman Dinowitz in close partnership with the NYPD, the legislation aims to safeguard freedom of speech and the right to assembly while ensuring communities can gather and worship peacefully. Thank you to Ms. Davida Amkraut for mentoring our SAR High School Jewish Advocacy Club!

🎉 This Adar was one for the books… and we’re still recovering!
...We kicked off on Rosh Chodesh with chagigot and magic shows, followed by Shabbat at SAR Day, our Topsy Turvy carnival, pony rides, and even a silent DJ! 🐴🎩🩰
As Purim approached, Adar Madness took over! Students rocked funky socks & silly hats, twirled in tie-dye and tutus, cheered in school spirit gear, rocked Anything But a Backpack, and enjoyed sweet treats from Rita’s Ices. 🍦🎪 We also marked a meaningful Power of Words Day, coming together as a school community.
The fun culminated with Purim yesterday.. Megillah readings were led by MS students, faculty, and parents, and our students gave Matanot L’Evyonim before heading home to continue celebrating the chag with their families.
💛💙 Our students really embraced the joy of Adar! And now...the countdown to Pesach begins!

On the Steps: Pruim Sameach!
🎭✨It’s always special to be together at school on Purim.
From ...Megillah readings led by students, parents, and teachers, to the creativity and color of incredible costumes, to the giving of mishloach manot and matanot la’evyonim, every part of today reflected the essence of Purim: unity and pride.
Even with so much weighing on our hearts in Israel and around the world, we choose joy. U'Vacharta B'Chaim...we choose life. We choose unity. We choose to show up for one another with love and care.
Chag Purim Sameach!
Today is Ta’anit Esther.
The day Queen Esther asked the Jews of ...Shushan to gather, fast, and unite in tefillah before she approached King Achashverosh. A moment of collective prayer. Shared responsibility. Courage rooted in achdut.
This morning, we gathered on the steps as a school community, standing together in tefillah as families across Israel move in and out of shelters and tens of thousands of chayalim return to duty.
We stood in solidarity with Medinat Yisrael.
With the brave soldiers of the U.S. and Israeli military.
With Am Yisrael.
As Purim begins tonight, we are reminded: our strength has always been our unity.
The courage of Esther and Mordechai, who saved the Jews of ancient Persia when an evil Haman sought their destruction, teaches us that even in moments of uncertainty and fear, our achdut and resilience carry us forward.
Am Yisrael Chai. 🇮🇱💙
