What does it mean not just to live in a democracy, but to help build and ...sustain it? And what does that responsibility look like for Jews today? 🇺🇸🇮🇱
At our Am V’Ometz Conference, students explored these questions through texts, conversations, and workshops with civic leaders and educators deeply engaged in the democratic process. Throughout the day, students heard from panelists, participated in workshops, and gathered for a schoolwide assembly, learning from leaders who model what it means to be an engaged Jew in a democratic society.
Thank you to our many guest speakers who helped facilitate meaningful conversations with our students and served as powerful role models: Eva Wyner Rosen, Justin C. Brasch, Elie Friedman, Tessa Veksler, Yishai Schwartz, Miriam Rosenbaum, Audi Hecht, Tamara Tweel, Aaron Dorfman, Akiva Shapiro, Charlie Savenor, and our own teachers.
A special thank you to our keynote speaker, Yishai Schwartz (AC ‘04, HS ‘08), who spoke about “From SAR to DOJ: Leadership, Integrity, and Jewish Tradition” in conversation with Dr. Rivka Schwartz.
Each session reflected the unique roles these leaders play in civic life and offered students concrete ways to get involved and become active, responsible citizens in both the American and Jewish spheres.
The message they left with was clear: get involved!
